This comic opera was first performed 1792 in Vienna and is Cimarosa’s most famous work. The story takes place in Bologna. Paolino has secretly married his manager’s daughter Carolina. Carolina’s aunt Fidalma is in love with Paolino. Count Robinson is in love with Carolina, even though he is engaged to her sister Elisetta … After much scheming and love secrets the marriage is revealed with a happy ending! The music is cheerful, light-hearted and full of irresistible arias and ensembles, without doubt influenced by Mozart.
